Yemeni; üstü deriden, tabanı köseleden dikilen topuksuz ve çok sıhhatli olan ayakkabıdır. Yemeni yurdumuzun diğer yörelerinde yazmaya verilen ad olmasına karşılık yöremizde ayağa giyilen bir çeşit ayakkabıya verilen addır. Gaziantep’te yemeniciliğe “köşgercilik” yemeni dikenlere “Köşger” yemeni ustalarına da “Köşger ustası” denilmektedir. Köşger kelimesi Farsça “keşger kelimesinden gelmiş olup, ayakkabı yapan anlamına gelmektedir. Yemeni ilk defa Yemen’de Yemen-i Ekber isminde bir kimse tarafından icat edilmiş ve kendi ismini vermiştir. Yemeni esas olarak gön ve yüz olmak üzere iki kısımdan oluşmaktadır. Çok sıhhatli bir ayakkabıdır, ayak kokusu yapmaz, teri dışarıya verir, insan vücudundaki elektriği toprağa verir ve vücudu rahatlatır.
