İzmir Selçuk İlçesinde bulunan Ayasuluk tepesindeki yerleşimin çok eski tarihlere dayandığı bildirilmekte kalenin bulunduğu tepenin Efes'in ilk yerleşimi 1. Efes olduğu ileri sürülmektedir M.Ö 1500'lerde Arzawa-Mira Krallığının merkezi olduğu belirtilmektedir. Tepe üzerindeki Kale Selçuklu-Aydınoğulları ve Osmanlı Dönemi yapısıdır. Bir dönem Aydınoğlullarının da merkezi olmuştur. İçinde Kale Camii, sarnıçlar, bir bey köşkü ve hamam yer almaktadır. İsa Bey Camii ve ünlü Artemis Tapınağı Kalenin batısında aşağı kesimde yer alır.
