Osmanlı evleri, Bizans yapıları ve yeşil dokusuyla şirin bir kent
Pulpudava adıyla eski Traklar tarafından kurulmuş. Daha sonra, Makedonya kralı Filip’in yönetimine geçince adı Filipopolis olmuş. Romalılar zamanında ise Trimontsiyum adıyla anılmış. 1390 yılında Osmanlı topraklarına katılmış. O tarihten itibaren kentin adı Filibe olmuş. Osmanlılar döneminde tam bir Türk şehri karakterinde gelişme göstermiş. 15. yüzyılın ilk yarısında, Anadolu’dan getirilen Türk aileleri buraya yerleştirilmiş ve Filibe, Rumeli Beylerbeyi’nin merkezi olmuş. Kent 1885 yılında da Bulgaristan’a bağlanmış
Osmanlı döneminde inşa ettirilen çok sayıda cami, medrese, han, hamam ve kervansaray gibi yapılardan sadece birkaçı gelebilmiş günümüze. Osmanlı evleri, Bizans yapıları ve yeşil dokusuyla tarih ve doğa meraklıları için üzerinden pek çok kültürün geçtiği şirin bir kent olmaya devam ediyor.
