Color distribution and white balance delivers really good results. Custom white balance is easy with good results, even Auto WB works effectively. RAW output in DNG format can be produced without any effect of WB settings
There are two RAW formats to choose from. PEF (Pentax RAW file) and DNG (Adobe open RAW file). You can also shoot RAW + JPEG at the same time.
After shooting, RAW files can be converted to JPEG in camera. You can make white balance setting, exposure setting; apply colored filter soft-focus filter and B&W conversion. With PictBridge connection, the photos can be printed on the go.
According to values given in manual, PEF and DNG photos take the same amount of memory. However in my test, I've noticed that DNG files are around 16 MB and PEFs are 11-13 MB.
A DNG file from K10D is nearly two times larger than the one from Canon or Nikon. The reason for that is the 22-bit A/D converter can record 2 times more color data. Software like Photoshop can benefit these larger RAW files by delivering more accurate colors. This 22-bit converter is crucial for natural colors and high detail in photos.
You can choose from sRGB and Adobe RGB color spaces. USB 2.0 can be used to transfer photos to a PC or MAC.
